The Maintenance Tech I performs basic upkeep, minor repairs and maintenance of all facilities and equipment. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Unclog toilets, sinks and tubs

* Change light bulbs

* Repair windows, screens and window coverings

* Maintain and repair ceiling tile and framework

* Repair flooring, and repair and replace drywall and paint area

* Repair furniture; move furniture

* Investigate appliance problems

* Rotate dumpsters, empty trash containers and make sure grounds of free of trash & debris.

* Assist other craftsmen as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor

* Serve on summer-project teams as assigned

* Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed.

* Assist Grounds with shoveling snow in emergency situations.

* Perform other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the job

Required Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma/GED.

Must have previous employment in a related field or trade mentioned above in the Position Summary.

Must have valid PA drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous employment in a Higher Education setting is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

Ability to: lift and move up to 50 pounds; stand and walk for long periods of time; climb stairs; operate a motor vehicle.
