Job Location : Pomona,CA, USA
Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services, performs a variety of maintenance and safety duties in and around the facility.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
* Assists electricians, plumbers, carpenters and Director of Environmental Services with necessary services and repairs as well as installation of new services or projects as needed.
* Picks up various supplies, parts, and building materials and delivers to appropriate location as needed.
* Checks all lighting in and around the facility buildings on a regular basis.
* Replaces bulbs as needed and/or makes necessary repairs to fixtures; repairs various types of electrical cords as needed; cleans fixtures on a regular basis.
* Plasters walls and ceilings.
* Plunges toilets and drains when necessary.
* Repairs patient electrical and mechanical beds.
* Services and repairs exhaust fans.
* Maintains floor machines.
* Replaces fan belts or adjusts as necessary.
* Inspects and safety checks dietary equipment.
* Checks draft gauges on air handling systems.
* Solders, brazes, and welds as needed.
* Installs/Repairs locks on doors.
Maintenance Mechanic Competencies and Performance Expectations
All Maintenance Mechanics are expected to:
* Perform various maintenance duties in and around the facility
* Maintain health and safety standards of facility
Prerequisite Qualifications
Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
High School graduate and some trade school. Two years' experience in related general maintenance, institutional setting preferred. Know how to operate various power tools. Must be able to understand and read English in order to read and upkeep material safety data sheets, maintenance requests and other written materials.
Communication, writing, record keeping and math skills adequate for performance of job duties. Must have valid California driver's license and liability insurance when driving personal vehicle on BHS business.
Able to stand, stoop, bend, squat and reach for purpose of performing job duties such as handling materials stocked on shelves, filing, lifting, and assisting with emergency situations. Routinely lift and move items weighing up to twenty-five pounds and up to seventy-five pounds; is expected to ask for assistance and use a dolly or cart for any heavy items. Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to operate floor machines and physically perform other job duties. Duties may require occasional use of stool or ladder and ability to work on ladder.
