This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Drivers Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:
+ three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;
+ any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;
+ a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and
+ a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 4 years

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains throughout the District, electrical services or components ranging from circuit panels, electrical motors, office lighting, electrical receptacles, electrical conduits, low vottage, fuel pumps, meter bases, lift stations, water well pumps, electrical gate openers and other required electrical items as necessary.
Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains audio visual equipment throughout the District. Assist Office of Information Technology (OIT) in the installation and design of audio visual equipment, cabling, mounts and acessories necessary for a complete wand working audiovisual system maintaining our Districts standards for audio/video conferencing. These duties include designing the low and high voltage requirements from applicable power source, budget analysis, product procurement, installation, maintenance, warranties. Relocation of existing system, analyzing what existing components are practical for reuse, and insuring critical components are connected to our existing emergency generators and backup power source.
Troubleshoots, repairs calibrates and maintains the District Materials and Research Laboratory electrical equipment.
Coordinates with vendors and contractors to obtain competitive quotes for electrical equipment, material and/or services.
Maintains Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) electrical equipment including complex electronic equipment associated with electrical and pneumatic controls.
Performs quality control work performed by contractors for proper installation and operations.
Installs television cable, amplifiers, and data/communication for the District Facilities.
Assists other building maintenance trades in routine repair and maintenance of District Facilities.
Maintains and repairs generator electrical components and service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of national electrical codes. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of electrical installation and the repair and maintenance of electrical systems. Ability to perform tasks in a safe manner. Skill in the use of electrical tools and equipment associated with electrical installations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb a ladder, squat, stoop, push, pull, crawl, and bend. Ability to work independently. Skilled in the use of basic math. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to perform routine building maintenance work (HVAC maintenance, minor plumbing work, carpentry, modular workstation reconfiguration, etc.). Skill using personal computers, and software programs associated with building maintenance activities .
REQUIRED LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: Class E driver's license is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience as an electrician or relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment. Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair in one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for one year of required experience. Possess a valid Class E driver's license.
