Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPosition SummaryThe Maintenance Coordinator serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for maintaining or coordinating service, repair and maintenance of DVIS owned facilities and equipment that does not require a license issued by the State of Oklahoma or the City of Tulsa.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPriority 1: Equity and Inclusion

Priority 2: Maintenance and Repair
  • Perform a variety of plumbing, electrical, painting maintenance and carpentry functions to complete work orders or anything else which is necessary to ensure rooms or apartments are ready for clients.
  • Perform routine maintenance work on structures; carpentry, electrical, plumbing, appliance maintenance, heating and air conditioning to insure a high standard of maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair to equipment, including AC, heating, plumbing, and electrical appliances and other equipment not requiring a license. Coordinate repairs on items under warranty or requiring a licensed technician to complete.
  • Provide emergency, unscheduled and scheduled repairs after normal business hours when necessary.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and electric meters and in performing duties.
  • Pick up trash and perform general cleanup of the common areas.
  • Pick up and deliver a variety of items as needed.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Maintain availability to both Safe Housing and Apache offices.
Priority 3: Administrative tasks
  • Maintain a work order system.
  • Contact and schedule vendors and contractors for necessary building and equipment repairs and emergencies that are outside the scope of routine maintenance at all DVIS owned locations.
  • Work with the Assistant Shelter Director and/or Vice President of Safe Housing for prioritizing and obtaining approval for maintenance projects.
  • Maintain a schedule and performing routine maintenance and tracking when the routine maintenance has been performed at all DVIS locations.
  • Coordinate lawn and outdoor maintenance such as playgrounds, playground equipment, grassy areas, parking lots and fencing at all DVIS owned locations.
Other Duties/Responsibilities: Other assistance to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DVIS retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneBudgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities: Responsible for staying within budget and preparing purchase requests for maintenance and repairs at all DVIS locations. Acts as a good steward of DVIS's resources.Responsibility for Confidentiality: The nature of this work requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.Contact with Others: This position will interact with managers at all levels and staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.Documentation: Maintains up-to-date and accurate files according to agency guidelines.Meetings and Training: Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.RequirementsEducation: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Experience: Requires minimum of one to three years' related maintenance experience and/or training is strongly preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in apartment maintenance, demonstrating proficiency in managing and repairing building systems and common areas within residential communities.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite are necessary.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Proficient in the use of all standard measuring instruments, hand and power tools required to accomplish assigned projects. Hand tools include hammer, chisels, saws, screwdrivers, wrenches, spanners and pipe cutters. Power tools include drill motors, die grinders, skill saws and table saws.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Must possess basic knowledge of heating and cooling equipment, tools, and their suitability for different types of applications.Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, and racial, class, gender, sexual orientation issues, and intervention/prevention services strongly preferred. Requires dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion, excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks. Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task and changing environment, with frequent pressure related to meeting deadlines and scheduling requirements. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.Requires the ability to embrace, support, and integrate DVIS's philosophies to promote and demonstrate DVIS's commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.Diplomacy at confronting personal, individual, and internal discrimination requiring sharing and discussing personal identities relative to the work environment strongly preferred.Schedule Availability: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional extended workdays.Licenses/Certifications: Valid Oklahoma driver's license is required; current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
