Reports to: Maintenance & Facilities ManagerDate Revised: January, 2024RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:Will work in the production area as directed by the Maintenance & Facilities Manager, Production Manager and/or Production Supervisor.Responsible for compliance with all plant safety rules, hazardous material and hazardous waste handling procedures.GENERAL DUTIES:Keeps informed of plant safety and operating procedures.Participates in safety meetings and toolbox sessions to continuously improve the safety performance of the employees and the company.Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.Callouts are possible during off hours.Perform mechanic skills including but not limited to; mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC programming & diagnostics, pipefitting, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments as needed.Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing job duties.Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisor.Performs housekeeping duties necessary to maintain company standards and actively participates in the housekeeping program.Attends and actively participates in training and other meetings to enhance safety, production, and quality of plant operations.Other duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent.A minimum of three years of previous experience in a maintenance position is required.A minimum of three years of experience working in the chemical industry is preferred.Extensive knowledge of building systems such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC is required.Trade certified Journeyman with a broad range of experience including pipe fitting is required.Valid certified training in the following: LOTOForklift CertificationFall from Heights ProtectionBoom & Scissor Lift CertificationStrong understanding of safety practices and principles.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is very important.Ability to work independently and within a team.Understand basic concepts behind managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.Must work effectively in dynamic work environment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must have sufficient mobility to access all areas of the plant site in support of project work.This will involve climbing/descending ladders and stairways.Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.Regularly required to move up to 4,000 lbs. with material handling equipment.Exposed to noise, dust, heat, cold, and hazardous materials requiring use of safety equipment.Working in conditions outside ranging from extreme heat to cold exposure 50-80% of the time.Required to use various types of Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) to handle hazardous materials and hazardous waste, including a rubberized suit and/or respiratory apparatus.Repeated physical motions will be required in performing duties.Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle.Required to wear personal protective equipment in the plant environment, which may include an escape respirator.BENEFITS:Union Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits401(k) and Roth Retirement Plan Options with Company MatchCompetitive Paid Time OffOpportunity to become a member of Teamsters Local 135Alexander Chemical Corporation is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, genetic information, membership in an employee organization, parental status, military service, or other non-merit factor.Physical Address: 7593 S.
