Job Description :
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician is to assist in the upkeep of equipment and technical support in all processes which will assist the department in the development of Standardization of Processes. Ensure the safe operation of mechanical equipment, complete preventative maintenance requirements, and trouble shoot malfunctions. This position will be supporting 2nd shift operations (3p-11p) in an automotive assembly facility. Primary Duties:
  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment repair or replace malfunctioning production or processing equipment
  • Perform regular inspection and preventative maintenance of equipment complete work orders with detailed documentation of results utilizing CMMS system
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots and programmable controllers (PLCs)
  • Troubleshooting and recovery of automation systems
  • Support operations personnel in equipment sequence of operations and Lock Out / Tag Out
  • Order and install replacement parts when necessary
  • Shut down and disassemble machinery as needed.
  • Assist in root cause identification with detailed factual communication of failures and suggestions.
  • Work with plant reliability engineers for process performance improvement.
  • Ensure that all production - related equipment in the plant is maintained in a state of repair, in order to achieve efficiency and effectiveness with proper uptime, yields and throughput.
  • Train and encourage others in order to achieve team goals.
  • Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Qualifications Required: Candidate must have a Technical Degree or 3 to 5 years of verifiable hands-on experience in an industrial maintenance environment.Technical Qualifications Desired:
  • Industrial Electricity -AC/DC motor controls, swit5ch gears, inverters, PLC controllers, ladder logic and programming, control circuits and devices, use of test equipment.
  • Blueprint reading - understand, comprehend, fabricate
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots and programmable controllers (PLCs)
  • Welding/Cuttingstick, mig, torch, shield, arc, oxy acetylene, plasma - Not required but a plus
  • Shop skills layout, drilling, and taping, lathe, milling, bandsaw, circular saws, small hand tools
  • Instrument Use - micrometer, calipers, ruler/scale taper gauges...etc.
  • Basic Machine Principles -threads and fasteners, tolerance and fit, materials, lubricants,
  • Millwright -chains, sprockets, bearings and pneumatics.
  • Electrician skills - mounting hardware, installing conduit, pulling wires, and connections.
  • Diagnostic skills - ability to logically find root cause of machine failures using electrical and mechanical trouble shooting techniques and efficient methods
  • Interpersonal skills - communications, employee involvement, and problem solving are a must
  • Knowledge of TPM - Total Productive Maintenance procedure desire.
