Maintenance Technician – $30-$40/hr based on experience + Benefits – Gridley, IL

As a Maintenance Technician at Watershed Foods, you will be responsible for keeping our equipment in top-notch condition to meet production schedules. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager and involves working in 1st and 3rd shift positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Watershed Foods sanitation, GMPs, HACCP procedures, Food Safety policies, and Occupational Safety Policies.
  • Efficiently troubleshoot, correct, and repair equipment as needed.
  • Complete maintenance tasks, including pump/gearbox rebuilds, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical component replacement, piping changes, and small fabrication projects.
  • Collaborate with and oversee contractors for project and maintenance tasks.
  • Propose process improvements to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Maintain a clean work area and detailed records.
  • Be available for call-in situations, including weekends and other shifts.

The Person

  • 2-6 years of industrial maintenance experience, including electronic/control systems, pneumatics, PLC systems, industrial automation, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems effectively.
  • Knowledge of electricity and electronic principles, including motor controls and VFDs.
  • Experience with mechanical components such as pumps, gearboxes, bearings, and conveyors.
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and P&ID.
  • Physical capability to meet job requirements, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying (up to 100lbs) in extreme hot and cold conditions.
  • Knowledge of electrical conduit installation (preferred).
  • Knowledge of boilers (preferred).
  • Experience in food manufacturing and industrial automation and controls (preferred).
  • Knowledge of industrial refrigeration principles (helpful).
