Salary : $37,945.00 AnnuallyLocation : ColumbusJob Type: Full-Time RegularJob Number: 202300163Department: Maintenance and RecreationDivision: Recreation ComplexOpening Date: 01/08/2025Closing Date: 1/31/2025 11:59 PM EasternDescription General Statement of DutiesUnder general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of County buildings, grounds, parks, facilities, county equipment along with other duties as assigned. Position performs carpentry, construction, painting, masonry, plumbing and minor electrical tasks. Duties assigned to employees in this position may vary according to qualifications of the employee, and specific needs of the Department and allocation of workload. Some independent judgment and initiative are required in completing job tasks. Reports to the Public Buildings & Grounds Director. Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Tasks
  • Performs repair and maintenance of county facilities to include but not limited to the construction, carpentry and painting. Constructs and/or repairs park equipment and facilities such as picnic shelters, maintenance shelters and other structures associated with parks.
  • Performs landscaping for all county facilities to include mowing grass on ball fields and the grounds of all county buildings; installing landscape timbers; leveling dirt on playing fields; spraying chemicals for weed control; and planting shrubbery.
  • May perform custodial duties as needed.
  • Transports materials, supplies, office furniture, and equipment between County buildings; arranges furniture and machinery in county offices; assembles office furniture and minor equipment.
  • Operates County vehicles and equipment.
  • Pulls or runs cables throughout buildings, installs mountings from ceilings, etc.
  • Performs plumbing tasks including changing faucet washers, stems, seals, etc.; installs water and sanitary fixtures and equipment; and repairing toilets by changing tank bulbs, overflow tubes, guide wires, etc.
  • Performs repairs and installations such as doors, locks, hinges, window framing, blinds, bulletin boards, signs/plates, irrigation systems, water lines, etc.

Typical Qualifications Minimum Requirements and Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED and one (1) year experience in building maintenance;
  • Or, equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Current Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Successful pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful criminal background check.
