Maintenance TechnicianJob Summary:
This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of machinery and equipment by performing maintenance and repairs across electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The Maintenance Technician will handle both planned and unplanned maintenance to support production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on production, processing, packaging, and utility equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and routine equipment inspections to assess reliability and performance.
- Read and interpret technical documents, including electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders, to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Assist with the installation of new machinery and equipment.
- Train and support operators in troubleshooting to reduce downtime.
- Complete work orders promptly while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and material-handling equipment to perform tasks.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to report issues impacting production efficiency.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented, including clear and accurate completion of work orders and compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Stay current on industry advancements, equipment, and technologies.
- Identify process improvement opportunities using a continuous improvement mindset.
- Anticipate parts requirements, follow purchasing procedures, and acquire necessary components in advance.
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhere to company policies related to food safety, quality, and sanitation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Trade school or technical school certification preferred in electrical, programmable controls (PLC/HMI), mechanical, welding/fabrication, refrigeration, plumbing, or related fields.
- 2–4 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, HVAC, or related fields—preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience working with lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipment.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is preferred.
- Relevant certifications or licenses may be required during employment.
