Watch now to learn more about The Pond Guy: Job Description With a reputation for fast delivery, quality and superior customer service, our Maintenance Technician Lead is a critical contributor to ensuring our facilities remain functional and safe for our employees. This is a working leadership position. Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of Maintenance Technicians to conduct building maintenance issues spanning approximately 200,000 square feet spanning across multiple facilities. Responsibilities Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.

  • Communicates with leadership about facility and maintenance needs, creates daily/weekly maintenance plan in order of priority; performs and assigns these tasks to maintenance technicians and self
  • Oversees and performs preventative building maintenance duties and monthly building checks
  • Maintains ticketing system for both daily/monthly maintenance tasks and equipment maintenance
  • Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing and equipment repair or replacement
  • Perform complex troubleshooting of equipment such as fillers, form fill and seal packet machine, mixers, tablet presses, liquid pumping, and liquid filling
  • Troubleshoot control systems using PC's and PLC's
  • Maintain functional operation of various critical automated material handling systems throughout the production process including conveyors, automated warehouse, pneumatic lifts, and product transfer systems
  • Assist Operations department with maintaining a high level of equipment up time
  • Coordinate projects and repairs with engineering and other in-house support groups
  • Oversee technical repairs performed by outside contractors on process equipment; Contact equipment manufacturers and vendors for information
  • Performs general construction including painting and repairs and repair
  • Light janitorial tasks including maintaining public and private spaces; Duties will include some vacuuming, mopping, surface cleaning, floor polishing and bathroom services

We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a full understanding of TPG, Inc.'s proactive approach to pond management. Skill Set To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:
  • 3- 5 years in facilities maintenance experience
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritize and delegate tasks efficiently and within budget
  • Experience working with trades related to building maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
  • Skill in using hand and power tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Skills in reading and following assembly instructions
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Forklift experience a plus
Because this position provides a variety of tasks, physical requirements are required for both an in-office and in-the-field environment. This position requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk and looking at a computer screen for typing for long periods of time. This position also requires the ability to swim, ability to work from elevated positions with proper PPE, manual dexterity for working with small components, ability to complete repetitive motions for long periods of time, bending, continual lifting, lowering and carrying packages that typically weigh 25 - 50 lbs. and managing packages up to 150 lbs as well as standing/stooping for long periods of time. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc. for portions of the position that may be completed in these circumstances. We need a self-motivated Maintenance Technician Lead that has a desire to become an expert while creating procedures with precision and quality. You'll need the ability to learn quickly through training and work independently in a fast-paced environment. This person should continually add value to the organization beyond their day-to-day tasks. Availability You must be available to work between the hours of 7am and 4:30pm Monday - Friday with the occasional evening or weekend projects that must be done outside of normal business hours.
