Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the servicing, repair, and ongoing upkeep of building and physical assets, ensuring that they meet legal requirements and health and safety standards. This position will identify the need for the services of outside contractors for all work that is beyond their expertise, and work in collaboration with the Maintenance or General Manager to determine the best course of action.Duties and ResponsibilitiesInspect, repair, and follow preventative maintenance on building and electrical and mechanical equipment; identify damage and resolve safety risksRespond to maintenance calls, troubleshoot, and complete work orders in a timely mannerRecord equipment and preventative maintenance tasks and work ordersMaintain inventory of materials, supplies, tools and spare parts and report usage; suggest re-orders to personnel with authorityCoordinate with members of the Food Safety department to ensure proper record keeping and compliance with Food Safety processes and proceduresEnsure preventative maintenance and end of life replacement plan for building and equipment assets is followedSupport scheduling of equipment and service contractors for outsourced equipment maintenance and record keeping of services performed, supporting invoicing verification and processingAssist in the equipment development, maintenance, and repairsAdhere to industry standards and waste disposal procedures set forth by regulatory agenciesOther core expectations as defined by the company Requirements and SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; post secondary education or trade school preferredA two-year technical certification in electrical or mechanical training is preferredMinimum of one (1) year of experience in a maintenance technician role in a manufacturing or production environment requiredProven operating experience with hand and power tools, machinery and conveyor systems and have a general understanding of the manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations and safety requirementsCommitment to adhere to and experience in statutory and legislative standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, PrimusGFSProven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skillsAble to work independently with minimal instruction and high accountability while also able to work with othersSound analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills; strong math skillsComputer Skills; basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking ConditionsHours of work may vary depending on business needs; on-call and holiday availability, ability, and willingness to travelThis job operates across multiple location and environment could vary from a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range from 45-55°F to a greenhouse operation with temperatures that range from 80-100°F.The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operationRole occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting and/or standing for prolonged periodsRole frequently requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands and armsThe position frequently involves needing to lift to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds
