BSFHC has been providing affordable, comprehensive, outpatient medical and dental services in an outpatient setting for over 40 years. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), BSFHC serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. We are hiring an experienced Maintenance Worker with clean Driving records to join our team. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills and a focus on quality care. Ideal candidates should be reliable, energetic, self-motivated, warm, upbeat and well spoken. Candidates must have the ability to handle difficult situations with a smile, be able to give our patients the care and attention they deserve, be an energetic team player and be able to communicate effectively and multi-task. Duties and Responsibilities included but not limited to the following:
  • General maintenance and repairs to ensure the facilities and equipment in the building are in good working order.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs, electrical and HVAC work.
  • Painting, changing locks, sheet rocking and plastering, repairing cabinets, tiling.
  • Cleaning, trash removal and snow removal.
  • Investigate possible problems and manage solutions accordingly.
  • Assist with building wide projects.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on a regular basis.
  • Driving/transporting staff and patients and ensure safely operating a transit motor vehicle and transport passengers.
  • Remain up to date with current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses and all licenses.
  • Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner at all times when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors and or the public.
  • Provide top tier transport to facilities by assuming responsibilities for care of the patient and carrying out established policies and procedures.
  • Keep the van clean and stocked and in good running order throughout the shift.
  • Prepare and submit reports accordingly.
  • Be in communication with supervisor on regular basis
  • Respond promptly to assignments as required.
  • Requirements and skills
  • 2 plus years of maintenance and driving experience
  • Valid NYS Driver's License with a Passenger's endorsement
  • Driver's License with less than 4 points
  • Driving a VAN a must
  • Know the roads a thorough working knowledge of local geography.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Independent, self-directed and highly motivated
  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive working relationship in a multidisciplinary team and clients
