Salary : $40,352.00 AnnuallyLocation : Flower Mound TX 75028, TXJob Type: Full Time RegularJob Number: 2025-02Department: Public WorksDivision: Street Services - Drainage and Right of WayOpening Date: 01/06/2025Description Under direct supervision, performs tasks to construct, maintain, and repair streets, bridges, medians, rights-of-way, gutters, curbs, sidewalks, alleys, drainage systems, and other public areas within the Town. Examples of Duties
  • Cleans, repairs, and maintains roads, bridges, medians, rights-of-way, alleys, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and other public areas of the Town.
  • Handles asphalt and concrete as it is placed, loads and unloads trucks, and lays pipelines.
  • Repairs manholes, patches manholes and overlay of streets, seals cracks in asphalt and concrete; removes and places concrete, to include form setting to finishing; and reads grades and sets grade stakes.
  • Assists in surveying, cutting brushes and trees, moves and weed-eats grass and weeds; maintains clean street intersections, medians, and alleys.
  • Operates, repairs, and maintains vehicles, light equipment, and tools, to include: tractors, mowers, front-end and back-end loaders, heavy trenchers, bucket trucks, augers, maintainers, jackhammers, skill saws, drills, bolt cutters, pothole patchers, rollers, dump trucks, one to five ton vehicles, etc.
  • Works safely when working in close proximity to high-speed vehicle traffic areas, along medians, and rights-of-way.
  • Identifies and keeps supervisor apprised of potential hazards, liability exposures, problem areas, inquiries of the general public, and the status of work activities.
  • Conducts daily inspections and preventative maintenance measures of and for vehicles, equipment, and tools, to include washing, checking safe and proper operation, and servicing.
  • Adheres to Town and departmental safety rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to stand-by schedule as assigned for emergency repairs at night and on weekends.
  • Assists other departments and performs other duties, as needed.
Minimum QualificationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license, and the driving record must comply with Town policy
  • Experience with computers is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with street maintenance, to include concrete and asphalt, and repair or construction is preferred.
  • Experience with light to heavy construction equipment operations is preferred.
  • Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) collection is preferred.
Must submit to and pass a post-offer drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history). Desired Qualifications KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
  • General knowledge of installation and maintenance of drainage structure and erosion control system.
  • Skills required to operate vehicles, small power tools, and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make competent decisions.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure and stress.
  • Ability to work extensive hours, as needed, and respond within 30 minutes to an on-call or emergency callback.
  • Ability to maintain an effective and professional working relationship with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
Physical Abilities:
  • Ability to talk, read, see, walk, hear, and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to perform routine and repetitive physically strenuous tasks.
  • Possession of sufficient hand, foot, and eye coordination to operate various types of light to heavy equipment.
  • Ability to exert and lift up to 100 lbs. of equipment several times per day, shovel, crawl, bend, kneel, climb on and off equipment, and operate vibrating equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors, outdoors, underground, in confined spaces, and in trenches; on level, slippery, sloping, unstable and muddy terrain; and under noisy conditions.
  • Ability to work in adverse environmental conditions, including inclement weather, such as rain, sleet, snow, sun exposure, dust/mist and under hazardous conditions with street traffic, exposure to insects, noxious plants, and snakes.
