Maintenance Worker I - G114 - ROW - City of Columbus, GA : Job Details

* Remove dirt and debris from roads. Carries tools, mixes concrete, sweep street gutters; shovel gravel, snow, dirt, sand, rakes leaves, and cuts brush.* Picks up litter and debris from right of ways; cleans up spills by placing sand on them; removes trash and litter from curbs and gutters; rakesleaves and use blowers; cuts grass.* Directs traffic around work site during road repairs, spreads seeds, fertilizers and mulch during landscaping.* Loads and unloads truck with proper materials.* Maintains landscaping, mowing, planting and seeding. Delivers concessions, chemicals and miscellaneous equipment. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.* Picks up garbage and debris as assigned. Cleans truck and other equipment. Applies fertilizer; plants grass and shrubbery.* Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of the fleet yard.* Removes trash from park grounds and buildings; cleans rest rooms.* Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer driven service.* Performs other related duties as assigned.* Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques utilized in the performance of grounds maintenance and landscaping activities.* Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the performance of grounds maintenance and landscaping activities.* Knowledge of the safe operation of assigned equipment.* Skill in problem solving and decision making.* Skill in the operation of hand tools and other assigned equipment.* Skill in oral and written communication.* Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
