SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor; works on various maintenance and repair projects.Essential Functions of the Job
  • Services, maintains, and repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural equipment.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on Facility equipment.
  • Takes and records readings on plant equipment and makes manager aware of any abnormal conditions.
  • Answers trouble calls and makes repair calls as required.
  • Observes health and safety rules and works in accordance with safe procedures and policies of the hospital; reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries promptly.
  • Keeps current with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and follow all precautions on all MSDS.
  • Assists other Craftsmen as required.
  • Follows all procedures to prevent the spread of any infectious virus or bacteria.
  • Operates the company vehicle in a safe manner following all State and Federal laws.
  • Participates in the On-Call Program when required to provide emergency services to the hospital, during internal and external disaster according to the hospital disaster plans.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices in mechanical spaces, plant and throughout the hospital.
  • Attends all required In-Service training.
  • Ensure all tools, parts and material are kept secure from patients and visitors at all times.
  • Return all unused materials prior to their proper storage areas upon completion of task.
  • Responsible for tools assigned by the department.
  • Follows current instructions by the department.
  • Follows proper precautions as per current instructions when working in or around exhaust ducts, fans and filters.
  • PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED by the Facilities Manager.
RequirementsEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High school, plus additional courses or specialized training at business or community college, or other formal training facility or program. Requires ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively. EXPERIENCE: Over one year, up to and including two years as a maintenance worker and four years as a maintenance helper.SKILLS REQUIRED: 1. A skill in electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, painting or mechanical is required.2. Experience in the use of hand tools and other related equipment.3. Ability to communicate effectively.4. Valid driver's license.5. Good driving record as evidenced by a current traffic abstract upon hire.
