Maintenance Worker I - The Maintenance Worker I is the entry-level class in the Public Works Maintenance series. Initially, under immediate supervision, incumbents perform the more routine and less complex assignments within established guidelines where there are minimal consequences of error, including a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This class is distinguished from the next higher class of Maintenance Worker II in that the latter performs duties under less direct supervision and is assigned the full range of duties in the series. Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following) Incumbent may be assigned to perform maintenance, repair, construction, operation, and installation work in all streets and sewers, landscapes, parks, water, and building maintenance functions.
