Under general supervision and according to accepted procedures and standards, performs routine and complex tasks associated with one or more maintenance trades including construction/carpentry, plumbing, electrical, maintenance, and general mechanics to provide the hospital with safe and reliable structures, systems, and equipment consistent with specifications in local, state, and federal code.# May specialize in the performance of a particular task but may be required to assist in other capacities due to variations in workload and staffing. Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of a 1 year post-secondary technical certificate or apprenticeship. Driver License with acceptable driving record. Two to three years of experience in order to: Acquire an adequate knowledge of one or more maintenance skills. Develop a basic understanding of mechanical processes, equipment repair, and the building trades. Learn to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications. Be able to understand equipment manuals. Acquire skill in the use of hand and power tools. Become knowledgeable of trade and regulations. Acquire a thorough knowledge of departmental policy and procedures.
