POSITION PURPOSE: A Maître D is expected to assist the restaurant by welcoming guests and assigning tables to them, taking reservations, and ensuring that guests are satisfied. The Maître D will be the first point of contact of the guests when entering the restaurant. The Maître D may assist guests before their visit by booking reservations and giving them key information on the restaurant's menu and ambience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Provide friendly, courteous and efficient service to all guests with making eye contact, smiling and maintaining proper posture.
  • Always do your best to accommodate guests requests. Anticipate and service the guests' needs before requests are made.
  • Control the flow of the dining room and constantly communicate with other managers as to when tables are needed back for the next reservations.
  • Seats guests as needed to ensure reservation times are met and VIP guests are treated appropriately.
  • Checking and handling guests that are dining for special occasions and creating an exceptional experience for them.
  • Promote in house events.
  • Work as a member of the restaurant team. Interacts with service crew in a positive manner. Takes initiative with leading the team to follow through on departmental policies and procedures, as trained.
  • Actively communicates with the front of the house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) staff and management to guarantee all guests are taken care of.
  • Interacts with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly in resolving Guest complaints.
  • Maintains the ambiance of the restaurant to include lighting, music, cleanliness, and hygiene.
  • Follow proper time and attendance and uniform procedures.
