Position Summary The Major Gifts Officer will focus on identifying, qualifying, cultivating, creating and implementing solicitation plans for a portfolio of 150 prospects with the capacity to give $10,000 or more to WPH.This individual will be responsible for generating more than $1M - $2M in philanthropic revenue each year.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: Manages a portfolio of 150 individuals capable of making gifts of $10K or more and cultivates, solicits, and closes $1M - $2M annually. Serves as a strategic partner and fundraiser representing priorities across the institution. Has a proven track record of building major gift pipeline and revenue Creatively and persistently seeks connections to new prospects to qualify interest and capacity and build pipeline. Develops innovative ways to engage new prospects and reengage donors e.g. Hospital tours, small in-home events, physician panel series, etc. Builds and nurtures effective working relationships with colleagues, senior management, physicians, volunteer leadership, and Board members. Actively contributes to the major gifts team; leads by example; collaborates with trust. Assures all conversations and visits are tracked in Raisers Edge. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors Education Experience Requirements Bachelors Degree required Minimum 5-7 years progressively increasing major gift experience with demonstrated track record in major gifts Hospital or university fundraising experience preferred Proven ability to close deals with major gift donors Minimum basic knowledge of planned giving Strong fundraising experience in New York metro area is preferred. Experience with Raisers Edge preferred, but must have experience utilizing technology to track donors/prospects Possesses high degree of emotional intelligence, strong leadership, persuasion and negotiation skills.
