Job Description :

This is administrative/project management work which may include supervision of other staff on specific projects, coordination of recurring events, investigation and research, statistical analysis, coordination of activities of the department, and/or relieving the supervisor of a variety of administrative duties. Work is directed and reviewed through the establishment of goals and subsequent evaluation of progress toward goal attainment.

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with FTA policies and procedures supporting the operation for continued compliance and effectiveness and initiates changes as needed. Will include various components of FTA regulations, including safety, ADA and ridership regulations.
  • Analyzes and summarizes information to support project planning and/or responding to public issues.
  • Responsible for process improvements, project management and communication of goals and objectives.
  • May conduct oral presentations, prepare reports and recommendations. Provide plans for implementation of improvements, plans and changes.
  • Coordinates special projects involving multiple work groups, and independently accomplishes special projects with periodic review.
  • Prepares correspondence, brochures and other narrative material.
  • Maintains electronic and hard copy official files of projects and monitors projects through completion.
  • Evaluates, develops, modifies and/or implements financial, administrative, and/or operational support processes and procedures.
  • Receives inquiries and furnishes information as requested.
  • Confers with citizens and representatives of other organizations.
  • Facilitates boards, committees, and/or task forces in information gather and analysis.
  • Completion of work assignments may require the operation of a vehicle.

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of research techniques and sources of information.
  • Knowledge of information resources and information evaluation and reporting techniques.
  • Knowledge of the practices and principles of municipal government, or of Transit organization and operations.
  • Knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations governing municipalities and Wichita Transit, within six months.
  • Ability to use a computer to access, interpret and record information.
  • Ability to accurately interpret contracts, agreements and leasing documents.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other employees, representatives of other organizations, and the public.
  • Ability to navigate stairs without assistance.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • May require the ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.
  • Required Experience and Training
  • A bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Management, or Communications.
  • Two years of professional experience in an office setting, performing administrative, project management, or analytical work.
  • A valid Kansas Driver's License.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
  • Preferred Experience and Training
  • One year experience with research techniques, statistical analysis, and project management.
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of municipal government and/or transit systems.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.

    Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
