Position Title: Manager, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineering (LSC, OSC, SSC) Position Summary The Data Science & Analytics team at JetBlue is an integral part of the IT Data organization which reports directly to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer due to the strategic importance of Data at JetBlue. The Data Science & Analytics team consists of Operations Data Science(ODS), Commercial Data Science(CDS), AI & ML engineering, and Business Intelligence teams operating in a center-of-excellence model reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Science & Analytics. The teams develop advanced Data products and insights for all cross-functional teams at JetBlue including up/cross-skilling the internal analyst community. The Manager, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineering leads a team of AI and ML Engineers and MLOps Engineers who will develop new Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to help solve JetBlue's most complex commercial, operational and deployment challenges. The Manager will be responsible for maintaining production-grade Machine Learning pipelines, developing new architecture, and promoting modeling approaches that deliver the best results with optimum deployment efficiencies. The Manager works in an entrepreneurial role, building the team, data science products, and vision of AI and ML at JetBlue from the ground up. The Manager of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer reports to the Senior Manager, IT Data Science & Analytics.
Essential Responsibilities - Recruit and lead a motivated team of AI and ML Engineers and MLOps Engineers who focus on large scale deployment and integration AI and ML products within time, latency and budget constraints
- Collaborate with business, engineering, infrastructure and data science teams to translate their needs or challenges into production-grade Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning deployment architectures for batch, real-time streaming and edge deployments
- Oversee and guide the development and integration of AI products through common libraries, robust data and CICD pipelines, deployment standards and documentation
- Design and implement architecture for an end-to-end machine learning and data discovery platform tailored for JetBlue
- Effectively communicate architectures, experiments, models and analytics outputs with partners
- Build strong relationships with new and existing external Business Partners
- Define strategical improvements in process, including but not limited to introducing new technology products, revamping existing architecture, and/or reprioritizing tasks based on Crewmember needs
- Play a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their day-to-day work, engagement, growth, and goals
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in AI and ML and identify opportunities for the team to implement new models and technologies
- Ensure that all AI and ML models and algorithms meet ethical and legal requirements, and comply with data privacy and security policies
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement by establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for Crewmembers

Minimum Experience and Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a quantitative discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
- Five (5) year of relevant industry experience
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, git and common Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning libraries
- Experience building Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models including efficient deployment architectures based on industry best-practices with ability to make contributions to and peer review of JetBlue internal Machine Learning libraries and products
- Able to write production-grade code and be familiar with software engineering best practices, including testing, version control and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) frameworks by working closely with internal DevOps teams
- Ability to communicate their findings to both technical and non-technical audience
- Ability to successfully complete technical interviews in areas of deployment frameworks, Artificial Intelligence, statistics, Machine Learning, SQL, Python, PySpark, optimization and Machine Learning Operations
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications: - Advanced degree in computer science or a quantitative discipline
- Five (5) years of relevant industry and management experience
- Experience applying various Machine Learning techniques such as: Time Series Forecasting, Recommendation Systems, A/B Testing, Dynamic Pricing, Logistics Optimization, Churn Analysis, Segmentation Analysis, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning and Reinforcement Machine Learning
- Experience using Databricks, PySpark / Spark, Azure Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow
Crewmember Expectations: - Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue's Safety Management System

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue's safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation: - The base pay range for this position is between $118,800.00 and $177,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
