Overview

TalentFish is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Security Officer Manager to join our premier financial services client in the banking industry. This is a direct hire, hybrid role located in Rosemont, IL, with a focus on managing the growth and continuous improvement of the corporate Business Security Officer (BSO) program. The position is at the AVP level, and the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the BSO team from 7 to 14 members while ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with security and fraud standards.

You will report to the VP/Deputy CISO and collaborate with multiple business units, including RISK, Finance, IT, Treasury, Wealth, and Mortgage. This role is pivotal in safeguarding sensitive financial data and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Team Management & Leadership

  • Lead and grow the Manager of the Business Security Officer (BSO) team, overseeing day-to-day operations, performance, and training of BSO staff.
  • Develop and execute strategies to embed security and fraud initiatives into various business areas across the company.
  • Mentor and support the professional growth of the BSO team, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle security and fraud risks in their respective business areas.
  • Foster collaboration between BSOs and key stakeholders to ensure security policies and programs are well-understood and consistently applied.

Security & Fraud Management

  • Oversee the implementation of security programs that support the protection of company assets and the prevention of fraud, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and corporate policies.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify security vulnerabilities and proactively address risks to safeguard sensitive financial data.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Enterprise Fraud, providing updates, policies, and controls to designated business area staff.
  • Monitor security incidents and provide leadership in incident management, ensuring swift recovery and continuity of business operations.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure the organization complies with applicable industry regulations, minimizing the risk of legal and financial penalties.
  • Adapt security and fraud practices to meet evolving regulatory requirements and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Assist with audits and ensure the development and maintenance of policies related to security and fraud.

Identity & Access Management (IAM)

  • Support periodic and annual access reviews to ensure compliance within business units.
  • Provide input into key initiatives and assist with the development of roles in business applications to improve user administration.
  • Identify trends and gaps in IAM processes, helping the business streamline onboarding and offboarding workflows.

Corporate Security & Crisis Management

  • Lead and advocate for Corporate Security initiatives, conducting training and presenting annual security summaries to senior leadership and audit committees.
  • Coordinate response efforts to security breaches or crises, ensuring effective communication and business continuity.
  • Participate in business continuity exercises and crisis management initiatives to prepare for potential security incidents.

Security Awareness & Training

  • Develop and implement security awareness programs for employees, reducing human error and mitigating security incidents.
  • Ensure ongoing training programs are in place to promote a culture of security consciousness across the organization.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of business experience, with at least 8 years in a security-focused role and 5 years of experience specifically in a Business Security Officer role, preferably in a highly regulated environment.
  • 5 years of people management experience with a proven ability to mentor, train, and lead teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Experience with security programs and fraud prevention initiatives
  • Desired Certifications: CISSP, Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Security Manager (CSM), or Certified Threat Analyst (CTA).
