Position Overview
The Manager of Development & Events designs, supports, executes, and evaluates events that engage stakeholders in meaningful?action and dialogue in?support?of the?site, with a specific focus on?building awareness, engaging the community, raising increased resources, and ultimately, serving more students. Additionally, they support fundraising efforts by leading creating, implementing and supporting the systems that will enable the development team to perform with greater efficiency and accountability.
Job Description
The Manager of Development & Events, manages development operations and executes, supports and evaluates events that engage stakeholders and supports site strategic engagement and fundraising goals, with a specific focus on?building awareness, engaging the community, raising increased resources, and ultimately, serving more students. Additionally, they support fundraising efforts by leading creating, implementing and managing the systems that enable the development team to perform with greater efficiency and accountability. They will work closely with the Executive Director and Development Director, also engaging important stakeholders like corps, staff, alumni, and Board members. This position requires a well-organized and flexible individual who can work collaboratively with internal and external teams and autonomously on self-directed projects.
Responsibilities:
Events & Administrative Support
* Manage execution of development events (annual fund-raising gala, donor engagement), site events and planning process ensuring achievement of all objectives and maximizing attendance and fundraising revenue.
* Support and plan events and engagement activities for targeted audiences and stakeholder groups such as donors, alumni, schoolhouse partners, and recruitment audiences.
* Prepare and execute mailings, invitations, reports, and speaker briefings for events.
* Manage key event committee members and vendor relationships throughout the year, including audio visual, virtual platform, catering companies, event venues, etc.
* Represent City Year Providence powerfully at local events and community functions.
* Implement tools to evaluate event outcome and success.
* Other event duties as assigned.
Annual Fund Campaign (Gift Processing) & Donor Database Management
* Manage solicitation and stewardship mailings/outreach including coordinating site participation in a national Annual Fund campaign and supplementing with annual appeals, champion letters, days of giving (i.e. GivingTuesday) and other strategic donor outreach.
* Maintain and regularly update donor information through Salesforce based platform.
* Create and prepare donor giving and event financial reports.
* Serve as liaison with our HQ Stakeholder Engagement (Development) team coordinating engagement in their provided services and learning opportunities.
* Oversee the creation and distribution of donor correspondence such as thank you letters/emails, the site annual report, and acknowledgments on social media and site website.
Marketing & Communications
* Support Development Director in executing stakeholder communication, marketing strategy and communication plan (inclusive of web, campaign emails and follow-ups, newsletters etc., and social media) to increase awareness and reach of City Year Providence promotion and monitor and conduct analytics on each strategy.
* Coordinate site-wide communications calendar.
* Oversee school site specific social media accounts and AmeriCorps member involvement to elevate member and team voice/presence - provide training and guidelines for consistency across all CYPVD accounts
* Other communication and marketing duties as assigned.
Organizational Initiatives
* Participate in both individual and site-wide learning opportunities centered on Diversity, Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion (DBIE) practices.
* Partner with CYPVD's departments and staff through applicant interview process, team buddy program, event and service day participation, and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met.
* Attend overnight events including retreats, and other local and national events.
* Contribute to the intellectual and organizational capacity of City Year Providence by staying apprised of local and national trends in annual fund, communications, national service, public education, and fundraising.
Experience Required:
* Bachelor's degree
* Five or more years of professional experience, preferably in fundraising and/or event planning for a non-profit or educational organization, with proven ability to meet or exceed goals.
* Strong base of knowledge of fundraising, event planning, marketing, and communications.
* Exceptional oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage, build relationships and inspire a wide range of audiences.
* Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills; capacity to strategically plan and implement new and proven projects and ideas.
* Proven attention to detail and disciplined project management skills; ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and respond to short deadlines.
* High degree of initiative and coordination

Compensation and Benefits
