For more information, visit www.coopervision.com Job Summary Manage all aspects of order processing for customers and providing leadership for department teams. Manage all day to day operational activities for a highly automated, state of the art 250k square foot distribution facility. Responsible for operational excellence and process improvement; ensuring customer expectations are exceeded; and talent acquisition, development, and retention of associates. Operates as a strategic partner with logistics and supply chain management in establishing and adhering to operating budgets. Complete understanding of warehouse management systems, distribution operations with a high level of analytical skills. ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
  • Regularly leads and monitors employee's performance to assure a smooth workflow and maximum productivity in a highly automated environment. Thorough training, coaching and experimentation help to design, seek approval and implement process and productivity enhancements.
  • Manager assures departmental adherence to Good Distribution Practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and ISO requirements. Also responsible to ensure SOP's are up to date.
  • Responsible for talent management including selection, termination, performance review and professional development of direct reports.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet customer expectations and operational budgetary requirements.
  • Creates, improves, and utilizes Distribution workflows including inventory integrity, distribution and overall departmental planning.
  • Performs cost and Return On Investment (ROI) analysis.
  • Interacts with other departments, including customer service, training, sales, to work towards resolutions for distribution related issues.
  • Utilizes basic Lean process (VSM, 5S, Gemba) to identify and lead/participate in projects for improvements.
  • Conducts meetings with strategic customers to lead towards overall process improvement. as well as cost reductions.
  • Leads projects with teams across multiple departments to develop process improvements.
  • Assists in and/or initiates data collection activities designed to identify and report on distribution trends relating to efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Analyze data to proactively develop future trending of the operation and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Remains in communication with all levels of distribution management advising them of day to day activities. Takes appropriates/immediate action to resolve any concerns or issues.
  • Responsible for developing key productivity measurements that will direct positive behavioral changes to meet/exceed customer expectations.
  • Responsible for reviewing and accurately reporting of productivity performance to upper management and employees.
  • Establish and drive continuous improvement efforts to maximize efficiencies in the organization.
  • Manage carrier relationships on behalf of the organization, and support carrier negotiations with upper management.
  • Support upper management in developing annual operating budgets in support of the corporate financial goals and responsible for P&L management.
  • Fulfillment Focus: Utilizes planning and supply chain material flow, and follows/holds knowledge of assembly line practices. Creates standardized work procedures to meet changing demands of customers.
  • Works closely with third party logistic providers and contract negotiations.
  • International Focus: Utilizes knowledge of export compliance regulations.
Responsible for domestic and/or international distribution processes within the Henrietta, NY facility. Cross functional interactions include Global Distribution, Americas Packaging, Commercial, and global support functions (QA, IT, HR). This position sits in the facility leadership team reports into a Director of Distribution. Responsible for the leadership of up to 100 non-exempt employees and up to 5 exempt employees. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Warehouse Management Systems, JDA/RedPrairie, BAAN, Oracle experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of warehouse management systems, transportation systems, labor management, distribution workflows, and ISO 9000.
  • Experience with developing performance metrics, and lean process improvements.
  • Ability to lead exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Medical device distribution experience a plus.
  • Import regulation understandings a plus for international management position.
Work Environment:
  • Normal warehouse and office environment with some exposure to dust, heat and cold. Ability to perform light to medium physical work, exerting up to 40-55 pounds of force occasionally, and performing such activities as lifting, keying, stooping and bending.
  • May be required to travel less than 5% of the time.
  • Must be flexible to work weekends and/or overnight
Experience:
  • At least five plus years experience in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Must have four to six years experience in Distribution or Warehouse environment.
  • Previous experience in a FDA and ISO regulated environment preferred.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
