Job Summary Directs physical and technical operations for the County Emergency Communications Department (Dispatch), helping to ensure maximum efficiency and compliance. Manages the dispatch operations and employees of the County Dispatch center, making proper decisions by using sound judgment to assist the community in the mutual pursuit of a peaceful, safe, and healthy environment. Job Responsibilities
  • Second in command and will take the place of the Manager, Emergency Communications in the Manager's absence.
  • Oversees the supervisors, staff and activities of dispatch, and assures compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Manages official records ensuring that financial, legal and/or administrative requirements and regulations are in compliance.
  • Collaborates with other Division leaders, identifies and leverages efficiencies across the organization, fosters trust and teamwork across all Pitkin County Sheriff's Office divisions, and furthers the multi-division one office approach.
  • Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values, and goals of Pitkin County by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operation and streamline work processes; work cooperatively and jointly with upper management to provide quality, seamless Emergency Services.
  • Coordinates a variety of special projects to streamline processes in meeting established goals, objectives and priorities including the Strategic Plan. Prepares documentation and makes presentations as they relate to projects that include new, amended or repeal of existing legislation.
  • Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
  • 3+ years experience as a Supervisor or Lead in department or function
  • 5+ years progressively responsible experience in area of expertise in Emergency Dispatch.
  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Obtain (within the first six months) and maintain an Emergency Medical Dispatch and CPR certification.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Preferred industry certifications include Emergency Number Professional (ENP), Certified Public Safety Executive (CPE), Communication Center Manager (CCM), Registered Professional Communications Leader (RPL), and/or Communications Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP).
