Position Overview
The Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) has served as New York Tech's hub for cultivating new businesses, products, and fresh ideas in technology, engineering, and applied sciences since 2015. ETICs mission is to consolidate and expand the college's industry-academic partnerships, foster innovation, and promote collaborations among industry, the academic community, professional organizations, and government.
The Manager of ETIC New York City is a full-time member of the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences (CoECS) of the New York Institute of Technology and reports directly to the ETIC Director. The successful candidate will work with the office of the Dean and staff to manage the day-to-day operations of ETIC New York City, and to expand the existing programs and partnerships with the government, industry, and other universities,
This position is based on the New York City campus.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage a physical presence at the ETIC NYC on a Monday through Friday basis, utilizing assigned ETIC student workers.
- Manage equipment and facilities to support ETIC's prototyping capabilities, including CAD design and 3D printing, electrical circuit design, PCB printing, software design, data analytics, AI, and electromechanical design.
- Market, secure, and establish new prototyping and design contracts with local NYC businesses.
- Work with NYC businesses to secure financial support via donations and mini-grants by utilizing ETIC resources and relationships.
- Engage with NYC startups, providing them opportunities to access ETIC services.
- Manage NYC ETIC's 25-hour certificate program for NYC students.
- Recruit, train, and manage ETIC student workers to staff ETIC and to meet requirements and deliverables on funded projects.
- Manage prototyping supplies and occasional equipment purchases or repairs.
- Collaborate with the ETIC Director and CoECS grants manager on new opportunities for ETIC program funding.
- Work with student workers on ETIC YouTube channel content management for NYC.
- Collaborate with the ETIC Director to ensure that all ETIC programs, including the Technology Prototyping Program (TPP), iNTEREST educational seminars, the publicly accessible YouTube channel, and business consulting services such as the Intellectual Property Protection program, are available to students at the NYC campus.
- Organize and participate in local NYC-focused educational events for CoECS students.
- Perform regular outreach to local businesses and startups promoting ETIC services.
- Attend to any faculty requests or requirements for specific needs from ETIC NYC on their research projects.
- Manage lab security access and evening and weekend needs for students or faculty when applicable.
- Assist the ETIC Director in managing the college's CAE-CD NSA Cybersecurity Designation, which requires student recruitment, student engagement, community outreach, seminar attendance by faculty and students, and participation in CAE Community collaborations.
- Attend NYC-based events and applicable meetings that need NYIT representation.
- Establish relations with faculty and chairs from all disciplines to ensure a communication channel between ETIC and students.
- Other related responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications:
- Technical background in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering, with a working knowledge of building prototypes, circuits, and small systems.
- Working knowledge of benchtop electronic instruments
- Programming skills in any high-level language
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Excellent follow-up on multiple projects concurrently; detail-oriented
- Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Project Management tools, and document design software
- Ability to work independently; self-motivated
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility of schedule due to meetings and events throughout the day, evenings, and weekends
Educational Requirements
- Masters degree required; strong candidates with a Bachelors degree will be considered
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years of professional work experience required, with 1+ years of experience in a technical contributor capacity, preferably with at least 1 (one) year of experience in higher education. Previous computer engineering, programming, or circuit design experience preferred.
Travel Requirements
- Travel around NYC and Long Island required, as well as occasional travel outside of the area

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
Minimum Salary: USD $65,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary: USD $85,000.00/Yr.
