OBJECTIVE: To educate Iowa's Soybean farmers and elevate their role in shaping policy that impacts their ability to be productive, profitable, and sustainable producers.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSLead Iowa Soybean Association's Farmer Advocate program including, but not limited to farmer recruitment, retention, communication, engagement & activation strategy.Lead the development of farmer-facing communications on timely matters of state and federal policy.Lead the development of a regular, farmer-facing policy-centric newsletter.Provide coaching and direction to ISA staff, Board Members, and Farmer Advocates when interacting with policymakers, agricultural leaders, or conducting interviews on policy-related topics as needed.Develop relationships with policymakers, their staff, and other interested stakeholders at the state and national level.Coordinate with other state and national commodity and agricultural organizations on issues of importance to Iowa farmers.Retain and coordinate with contract lobbyists and related services to assist with planning and executing lobbying strategies on specific issues of importance to Iowa farmers.Support Demand and Productivity with the ideation of new policies, including leading stakeholder mapping exercises and forming coalitions.Support the development of ISA policy, ultimately resulting in the annual approval of ISA's annual policy resolutions document.Prepare ISA delegates for Iowa Soybean Association & American Soybean Association's annual policy resolutions session at Commodity Classic.Support the development of the Advocacy budget.COMPETENCIESMust possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.Ability to collaborate effectively.Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.TRAVELThis position requires up to 25% travel.
