The Pharmacy Operations Manager works in conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy in the various activities involving the direct supervision of the pharmacy supervisors and daily pharmacy operations including but not limited to workflow, scheduling, automation management and quality processes within the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Operations Manager will work closely with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure pharmacy best practices are implemented.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Manger, Pharmacy Operations at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. In conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Manager, determine staffing levels of departments within the pharmacy operations. 2. Partnering with the Pharmacy Leadership, the Manager of Pharmacy Operations will determine appropriate staffing levels within the technician group. Oversee operations and coordinate the workflow of the pharmacy department technician staff. 3. Mentor and develop Pharmacy Technician leadership and staff. 4. Ensure that all work is completed accurately, in a timely manner, and staged for delivery. 5. Assist the Director of Pharmacy in overseeing the purchasing and receiving departments to ensure that adequate supplies of medications and supplies are available and properly stored for dispensing. 6. Oversee the proper maintenance and operation of pharmacy automation equipment. 7. Work with the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Manager to develop and implement pharmacy best practice procedures. 8. Serve as a main point of contact for field staff to communicate any customer facility issues/needs 9. Ensures that customer issues are properly handled and corrected. 10. Either directly, or in the case of pharmacy technicians, in coordination with the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, conducts the following activities: - Interview and hire pharmacy team members - Train and orient pharmacy operation team members - Schedule and arrange/provide for coverage of pharmacy operation team members. - In conjunction with the pharmacy technician supervisors, conduct routine and annual team member performance evaluations of pharmacy operation team members. - Ensure appropriate staffing during call-ins, inclement weather, or periods of increased workload. - Ensure all policies and procedures are being followed by pharmacy team members. 11. Ensure that all packaging equipment and automation are properly maintained. 12. Monitor workflow and all quality assurance processes for pharmacy. 13. Either directly or in conjunction with the Pharmacy Technician Supervisors, handle all administrative and disciplinary actions according to company policy. 14. Evaluate and review direct reports and provide input for other team members as necessary. 15. Ensure adherence to all Board of Pharmacy, and FDA standards. 16. Provide or coordinate any education needed by pharmacy team members. 17. Conduct regular huddles with pharmacy technician supervisors. 18. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct, Philosophy, Mission and Value Statement. 19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Manager. 20. Managerial Duties: - Supervise pharmacy technicians and operation staff. - Create and maintain pharmacy technician schedules. - Interview and hire team members - Coordinate new team member training with the Pharmacy Technician Supervisors. - Plan, assign, and direct work. - Appraise performance, and reward/discipline employees. - Address complaints, and resolve problems. - Promote and foster a professional, positive, dynamic team environment through exemplary leadership.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs or equivalent work experience. 2. At least three (3) years of previously effective supervisory experience 3. Prior Pharmacy supervisory experience in the Pharmacy setting. 4. Must be comfortable using multiple software programs. 5. Must be organized and possess effective time management skills.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. High-volume pharmacy experience. 2. Bachelor's degree.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. Pharmacy Technician License within 6 months of entering position.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

1. Advanced Pharmacy Technician Certification - PTCB.
