Role Purpose Statement Reporting to the Director Risk & Claims, you will be supporting the director with LSG's risk management efforts, including insurance portfolio management, claims oversight, risk management information systems administration, and loss control coordination. This position supports the risk management process to minimize financial exposure, protect company assets, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, quantitatively challenge cost of risk transfer and optimize current structures and programs in partnership with brokers and advisors. Besides the collaboration with external partners, the Risk Management Manager collaborates also with internal departments as business partner to assess and mitigate risks across the organization.
Main Accountabilities Insurance Program Management:
- Assist with procurement, negotiation, and renewal of insurance policies (e.g., property, liability, workers' compensation).
- Collaborate with brokers, carriers, and underwriters to secure optimal coverage terms and pricing.
- Align insurance coverage with organizational needs, risk profile, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve insurance certificates, manage contractual insurance issues, and ensure timely issuance of certificates.
- Conduct audits to verify accuracy and adequacy of coverage. Covering also all operational insurance related topics, e.g. underwriting data, obtaining and distributing workers' compensation posting notices, etc.
Claims Management Oversight:
- Oversee timely reporting, investigation, and resolution of claims in partnership with insurance carriers, TPAs, adjusters, and legal teams.
- Develop strategies to minimize claim frequency, severity, and improve management efficiency.
- Analyze claims data to identify trends, root causes, and recommend risk mitigation measures.
Surety Bond Program Administration:
- Verify bond requirements and amounts, actively seeking opportunities to reduce or cancel and actively working with Treasury to manage and optimize collateral
- Administration of bond renewals, issue continuation notices, and review U.S. Customs filings to ensure up-to-date scheduling of all locations
Risk Management Information System (RMIS) :
- Oversee the maintenance and optimization of the RMIS to ensure accurate data is entered, including insurance policy details (limits, deductibles, terms)
- Ensure ongoing data accuracy and perform regular report clean-ups
- Use RMIS to generate reports on claims, losses, risk exposures, and insurance performance
Loss Control:
- Coordinate with external consultants and internal teams, e.g. field finance teams to conduct risk assessments, audits, and safety inspections
- Schedule loss control visits between insurers and field teams as required
Compliance & Regulatory Management:
- Ensure that all risk management, insurance, and claims processes comply with applicable local, state, federal regulations, and industry best practices
- Manage regulatory reporting requirements for insurance claims and ensure timely compliance with legal obligations
- Stay up-to-date on developments in insurance markets, regulatory changes, and emerging risk trends that may impact the organization
Additional Responsibilities:
- Distribute auto ID cards to field fleet managers.
- Update property schedules in coordination with the real estate director and tax analyst. And support the Director in ERM initiatives and workers' compensation claim follow-ups.
- Partner with departments (e.g., Treasury, Legal, HR, Operations) to align risk management with organizational goals.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including brokers, claims administrators, legal advisors, and safety consultants.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
- Preference given to those holding CPCU, ARM or other related industry designation.
- 5-7 years of experience in risk management, insurance, claims management, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Proficient in Microsoft products; advance level in Excel required
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Willingness of drive and ownership
- Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of the internal organization and external partners
