About The Position
The Manager of Solar Operations is responsible for the development, operational readiness, and future operations of new utility scale solar generation facilities. This individual shall provide oversight to the execution of both construction and long-term operations of solar and renewable facilities. This individual shall also manage supervisors, engineers, and site Solar Technicians tasked with the daily maintenance, custody, and local control of the facilities. Additional primary roles of this position include developing long-term operational plans, administering long-term service and maintenance contracts, developing a culture of safety at the respective remote generation facilities, and ensuring assets are managed in a manner that increases availability and prolongs their useful life.
Key responsibilities include:
* Establish and administer maintenance, operational, and safety practices for renewable generation facilities.
* Ensure all new renewable generation facilities are designed, built, and commissioned to Ameren's expectations for successful operations and best industry practice.
* Manage site personnel responsible for the care, custody, and local control of renewable generation facilities.
* Establish proper monitoring and controls at renewable generation facilities prior to commercial operations.
* Establish and maintain a safe work environment at the solar facilities.
* Verify that new renewable generation facilities are in adherence with all NERC standards, MISO coordination requirements, environmental conservation plans, permits, and regulatory requirements prior to the date of first commercial operations and on an ongoing basis.
* Continuously monitor the availability, performance, and production metrics of solar farm and renewable generation facilities.
* Provide frequent updates to Ameren management on the overall portfolio of renewable generation facilities, thereby creating a clear line of sight for the performance, operational budgets, and financial returns of Ameren's renewable generation projects.
* Develop condition-based monitoring programs to drive cost effective maintenance, defer O&M cost towards critical asset functions, and prolong asset life.
* Develop training for Ameren's solar farm facilities geared towards proper safety of operating solar related assets.
* Ensure all land owner site lease related payments and concerns are resolved and relations with local counties remain in good standing.
* Prepare and maintain the overall operational strategy and budgets of Ameren's Missouri's renewable generation facilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from accredited universities are required. Seven or more years of directly relevant experience is required. (e.g. commercial power or renewable generation operations, engineering, construction or maintenance experience, large-scale construction project management or project design engineering, etc.). Experience as manager of renewable generation facilities, site maintenance personnel, and with associated daily operations is preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
* Knowledge of the solar assets and technology installed at Ameren's facilities.
* Knowledge and understanding of generation and electrical distribution systems.
* Familiarity with NERC standard requirements, MISO coordination requirements, environmental constraints, and the regulatory constraints of a regulated utility environment.
* Prior relevant experience in contract negotiations.
* Strong communication skills for leading large project teams.
