The Institutional Business Development job is responsible for new client development and retention within the Institutional marketplace. As a recognized thought leader within the Institutional marketplace, the focus of this job is to provide direct sales to sophisticated institutional buyers who understand complex Investment products. This job has a mastery of all investments solutions (public and private fixed income, public and private equity, real estate, and real assets) and represents these solutions to plan sponsors and their field consultants.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develops and executes an effective sales calling/correspondence campaign to qualified leads for all investment solutions.
  • Reviews needs analysis and provides potential solutions to sophisticated institutional buyers.
  • Conveys investment knowledge convincingly through direct sales calls, small meetings and formal presentations.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with plan sponsors and their consultants.
  • Ensures seamless on-boarding process of new clients.
  • Understands key competitors and positions the firm's products effectively relative to those competitors.
  • Cross-sells the firm's products to existing clients where appropriate.
  • Exceeds client service expectations through proactive on-going communication.

Job Summary

The East Coast Life insurance, MD job handles new client development and retention within the U.S. East Coast Life insurance space. Under limited supervision, the focus of this job is to provide direct sales to sophisticated U.S. Life insurers who understand complex Investment products. This job has responsibility for representing all investments solutions (public and private fixed income, public and private equity, real estate, and real assets) to Life insurers.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develops and executes an effective business plan for marketing insurance focused investment solutions to the U.S. Life insurance market.
  • Conducts a needs analysis and provides potential solutions to sophisticated insurers.
  • Understands the U.S. Life insurance capital and regulatory regimes and works with internal Nuveen stakeholders to maximize probability of success within the Life insurance market across asset classes.
  • Oversees on-boarding process of new clients.
  • Calls upon all resources of the firm (people and technology) to provide valuable solutions to strengthen insurance relationships.
  • Understands key competitors and positions the firm's products effectively relative to those competitors.
  • Cross-sells the firm's capabilities to existing clients where appropriate.
  • Attends insurance specific industry conferences.
  • Exceeds client service expectations through proactive on-going communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in investment management/business development, consulting/consultant relationship management and/or client service within the insurance segment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in investment management/business development, consulting/consultant relationship management and/or client service within the Insurance segment with a strong focus on Life insurers.
  • Demonstrated success in developing relationships which have led to closed sales and a pipeline of leads.
  • Strong preference for candidate to be based in New York.
  • BA/BA degree required, MBA a plus; CFA a plus.
  • Requires a comprehensive understanding of the features, design, and benefits of all Nuveen products, services and capital markets, as well as competitor's products, services and strategies.
  • Must be able to communicate and clarify complex features and U.S. Life insurance regulations.
  • Understands operational procedures/processes, and balances regulatory and commercially acceptable guidelines specific to the U.S. Life insurance market.
  • Must be able to efficiently and effectively manage your own travel schedule. (requires 75% of travel)
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 required or must be obtained within three months from date of hire.

Anticipated Posting End Date: 2025-03-06

Base Pay Range: $183,800/yr. - $255,000/yr.Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
