DescriptionELIGIBLE FOR $1000 SIGN-ON BONUSVoluntary Overtime Available 1st Shift Position To set-up and operate a variety of machines to cut and thread pipe, broach or perform limited operations such as flat milling, impeller routing for weld acceptance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Receives prints, route cards, shop orders, and specifications of work to be done.• Reads prints, determines machine requirements, plans work, obtains required cutters and tools. Patches or fills casting defects.• Sets up broach to cut keyways, operates machines, adjusting for proper feed and speed. Observes operation, adjusts flow of coolant.• Checks dimensions, using gauges, scales or fixed gauges. Performs spark test to check for leaks.• Machines special keys on milling machine, Deburrs machined parts on engine lathe. Sets up and operates centering lathe to center bar stock.• Operates engine lathe to face and deburr on a variety of parts. Marks impellers for drilling, drills for routing to accept weld. Uses disintegrator for burning out taps.• Assembles, wearing rings to impellers, drills, studs, rivets.• Checks order for type and length of material. Manually or with floor controlled electric crane moves and positions material at saw. Measures and marks, or sets stops for required lengths, operates saw to cut to length.• Sets up and operates pipe threading machine to thread pipe as specified, check thread with gauge.• Stores material by size and color code and maintains records of material received or issued against shop order or requisition.• Notifies Foreman or Floor Inspector on any unusual condition of material or equipment.• Cleans and lubricates machines.• Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.
RequirementsJOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES• Interpret drawings, plans, complex work details and procedures to operate a variety of machines to perform several machining operations.• Reason through problems involving set-up and operations of moderately complex equipment, make keyways, perform facing, deburring, sawing and threading operations.• Set up and operate machine tools for facing, milling, drill and deburring operations. Performs manual tasks such as positioning and assembly.• Close or mental visual application required to planning operations or setting up a variety of machine to machine parts to close tolerances.• Light physical exertion.
