Location: Plaquemine, LA

Summary:

To perform complex setups, select tooling and required equipment for machining of parts to required specifications. Developed skill set and experience to plan and oversee repairs with minimal supervision or feedback. Advanced skill set to work to any critical tolerance required for the job. Ability to complete work in a safe and timely manner to meet customer needs.

Requirements:

  • 5 years' experience in manual machining (2nd Class Machinist). Will consider candidates with 3 years' experience on a case by case basis.
  • Candidate must be willing to work 2nd shift and offer additional flexibility based on customer needs, including but not limited to overtime, holidays & weekends, depending on workload
  • Advanced knowledge of machine equipment and machining operations of various machines, including but not limited to: horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, radial and angular drill press, forklifts, cranes and various forms of rigging, jib hoists, personal computers, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Experience with VTLs (Vertical Turret Lathes) and Boring Mills
  • High School Diploma

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate blast booth equipment, as required
  • Advanced knowledge and accuracy in using various measuring devices: micrometers, indicators, calipers, gages, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Full understanding of use for tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications and documentation to perform the primary function of the job.
  • Performs complex setups and perform unusual machine tool operations. This includes turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, peening, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, grinding, and other required actions to complete the job.
  • Ability to work to any critical tolerance required.
  • Fully competent in reading and comprehending drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
  • Able to reverse engineer components to create drawings and or manufacture. Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements and notifying the appropriate representative for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Able to accurately measure and record all dimensional inspections as needed and pass annual dimensional inspection test.
  • Completes layouts of parts.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in company provided educational material, trainings, and reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities.
