On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join their management team. If you're currently a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager looking for your next career move, this role offers an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership position.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the General Manager, overseeing the financial strategy and administration of the company. You'll be responsible for managing and implementing key financial activities such as accounting, job costing, purchasing, and property management, while also engaging in vendor negotiations. This position plays a vital role in shaping the company's financial future and ensuring seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the General Manager in the budgeting and forecasting of company activities.
  • Lead all aspects of finance and accounting functions, ensuring the timely preparation of monthly financial statements and key metrics reporting.
  • Continuously evaluate the company's financial objectives, both short- and long-term.
  • Support the General Manager in aligning company goals with the expectations of the PE parent company.
  • Advise on financial impacts of business decisions and engage in strategic company initiatives, including market, product, and service-related projects.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls, safeguarding company assets and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and support external audit and tax return processes.
  • Manage commercial banking relationships and prepare various tax filings including business, sales, and heavy vehicle taxes.
  • Oversee vendor negotiations and maintain strong relationships with external parties such as audit firms, suppliers, and insurance agents.

Supervisory Role:

  • Oversee the Accounting/Finance and Purchasing departments, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal standards.
  • Supervise daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, billing, payroll, and inventory management.
  • Manage the purchasing process, ensuring efficiency in inventory and project-specific acquisitions.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • At least 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a financial leadership role.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and communicate across all levels of the organization, including remote teams.
  • Expertise in cost accounting and work-in-progress accounting.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities, driven by accurate and timely financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel (including advanced formulas), as well as Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.
  • A high level of integrity, urgency, and results orientation.
  • This is an on-site role.
