Tenneco is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support our Frankfort plant. Tenneco is one of the world's leading designers, manufacturers and marketers of automotive products for original equipment and aftermarket customers. Federal Mogul - Frankfort which has been an integral part of the Frankfort community for almost 60 years and was acquired by Tenneco (Powertrain - Sealings & Gaskets business unit) in 2018. The candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving current processes as well as developing and documenting new processes/techniques. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth and development for those who are interested in furthering their career and growing within Tenneco. We are ready to act immediately on those candidates who are the best fit for the role and they will be scheduled for an on-site interview with our management team at our Frankfort, IN plant. This is a very hands on position and the candidate will spend about 50% of their time on the floor and 50% in the office. Responsibilities include:
  • Investigate and assist in the troubleshooting of production problems related to tooling, equipment and process.
  • Develop, recommend and implement changes that will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Supervise, document and evaluate results of trial runs of proposed changes or on sample parts.
  • Provide technical assistance to product and process.
  • Initiate and/or approve deviations from engineering standards and follow up on communications with respect to such deviations.
  • Provide assistance and direction to maintenance personnel regarding equipment troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the training of production and other salaried personnel.
  • Assist in proper resource utilization to break constraints.
  • Assist Product Line Manager in development of capital & expense budgets.
Requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering technology, chemical/mechanical/electrical engineering, or other applicable degrees.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently and the ability to be self-directed/self-motivated is essential.
  • Machine troubleshooting experience is required. - Mechanical, electrical, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Willingness to provide hands-on assistance to operators and maintenance teams.
  • Willingness to work and communicate during off shift hours on an as needed basis when projects/production demand it (estimated less than two times per month).
  • Conform to Tenneco's Environmental, Safety & Health Management System Policy.
  • Experience with PLCs is preferred.
  • Industrial manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with rubber manufacturing/processing or metal treatment phoscoating processes is preferred.
