We are looking for an experienced and driven engineer or engineering technician to work with us at Greenfield Products! In this role, you will support Greenfield Products, LLC, a leading manufacturer of a wide range of material handling solutions including crane and rigging accessories, forklift attachments, and port & rail equipment. Position Overview:In this role as a Manufacturing Engineer or Engineering Technician, you will directly support the operations at the Greenfield Products location in Union City, TN. You will support both tactical and strategic goals/ objectives through the implementation of lean principles of manufacturing, documentation and improvement of manufacturing methods, implementation of capital equipment and advancement of manufacturing technology throughout the operations. Essential Functions:
  • Write and maintain process routers and work center instructions.
  • Lean Visual Factory process and initiatives.
  • Leads Small Group Improvement Activity Teams. Support and/ or facilitate 5S and Kaizen activities.
  • Develop manufacturing plans to implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform cost engineering and standard analysis on products and processes.
  • Assist with the development of capital plans for introducing or replacing machinery and equipment.
  • Perform capacity and factory layout analyses.
  • Audit and Approve ECRs/ECNs for new product and for current product and process.
  • Develop new processes and propose new machinery and equipment to support cost reduction, productivity and throughput improvements.
  • Understand and implement Lean principles and practices in all manufacturing decisions. Develop 5-Why root cause analysis environment.
  • Coordinate with Operations to define best practices and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Participate in and conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) assessments as required to detect and correct potential safety issues on the shop floor.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries
  • Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (both internal and external)
  • Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Companywide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability
  • Special projects or work as assigned

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of bill- of- material management on both the drawings and within an ERP system.
  • Experience working in a structured release environment composing of new releases and engineering change notices (ECN).
  • Ability to identify and suggest changes to current products.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent related experience.
  • 3+ years of work experience in aforementioned engineering discipline and related experience.
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Lanco employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Lanco does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status).
Preferred Education and Experience:Top candidates will have 5+ years of experience in aforementioned engineering discipline and a proven track record of leading multiple projects and teams. Top candidates will also possess at minimum a Six Sigma Greenbelt.Work Environment:
  • This is primarily a sedentary office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances
  • Some travel required- up to 25% domestic travel.
  • Location: Union City, TN (Relocation assistance may be available)
  • Potential for flexible work available upon successful and satisfactory completion of required training period.
Physical Demands:
  • The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 30 pounds
