Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer works to ensure the effective utilization of equipment and materials with an objective of maximizing production output while maintaining safety, quality, and cost standards. This hands-on position will support ongoing manufacturing as well as process improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Sales in the following functions:

• Drives Continuous Process Improvement activities throughout the assembly process using statistical techniques and applying lean methodology.

• Support Engineering Product Introductions and existing production lines providing direction for the organization on assembly techniques for the best cost/quality method.

• Investigates assembly issues and identifies root cause / corrective actions that are needed. Evaluates Rework and Reject levels for design, process, and training improvement opportunities.

• Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for optimum efficiency and safety.

• Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

• Develop and evaluate equipment and processes to produce a high-quality product at a competitive cost.

• Conduct production feasibility reviews; generate assembly instructions and tooling.

• Provide technical direction, training and certification for operators performing detailed process steps to ensure that production assemblers, testers, inspectors, and support staff have the necessary skills, appropriate documentation, tooling, and process control capability.

• Other duties may be assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

• Institute process and product improvements resulting in a positive impact on production cycle time, product costs and product quality.

• Confer with management, engineering and other team members regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

• Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.

• Work independently and employ effective time management skills.

• Overtime as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field and 3-5 years' experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.

Preferred:

3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment

Specific Skill requirements include:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent PC and Microsoft Office skills. Technical knowledge of production feasibility concepts, process control, quality specifications, mechanical assembly techniques, and continuous improvement methods.

• Electrical Assembly and Testing Experience.

• Supporting soldering and wire crimping processes is desired.

• Must have an understanding of statistics.

• Proficient in data analysis identifying patterns or trends.

• Hand-on mindset and approach

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Demonstrate ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, MRP platforms and Statistical software.

REASONING ABILITY

Proven problem-solving ability. Ability to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram format and be able to make sound decisions based on several abstract and concrete variables.
