Manufacturing OperationsScot Forge Company is looking to hire an Operations Intern for the Summer of 2025 at the corporate facility in Spring Grove, IL. An operations internship at Scot Forge will provide a variety of experiences and exposure to the manufacturing management profession. This intern will be supporting the operations management team through their daily tasks and projects.This Program Offers:Paid CompensationProfessional Career Development and MentoringReal World Problem SolvingMeaningful Project WorkCollaborative Work EnvironmentAnticipated Projects include:Collaborating with the Plant Management and Supervisors on identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing floor.Participate in and support shop floor projects focused on enhancing productivity, reducing waste, and optimizing processes.Join daily walks and meetings to observe operations and help identify areas for improvement.Assist in driving 5S activities, including organizing and participating in 5S events within the shop.Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Daily Control Meeting (DCM) activities to help maintain equipment reliability and operational efficiency.Help track and act on identified action items to support operational goals.Assist in conducting root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues affecting quality and productivitySupport compliance with safety regulations and standards.Qualifications:Required SkillsMinimum Sophomore standing in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.Independent worker with strong self-management and problem-solving skills, who can demonstrate learning agility in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and Process Optimization initiatives.Knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD/CAM software.Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including 5S and Kaizen, preferred.Experience using Microsoft Office applications.Preferred SkillsCertifications in Lean Manufacturing Techniques, Project Management, Root Cause Analysis, and/or Safety ComplianceEffective collaborator with strong communication skillsKnowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes.Previous exposure to CNC machining or machineryGeometrical Tolerance specification/application knowledge.Additional RequirementsMust be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorshipMust be able to pass a 90 day head hair drug test today.We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer: M/F/Disabled/Vets encouraged to apply.We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing.
