Job DescriptionWe are looking for a talented Manufacturing Shop Director-Assembly Test and Final Parts Mounting to join the Jamestown Engine Plant on-site in Jamestown, NY. The Manufacturing Shop Director- Assembly Test and Final Parts Mounting role will provide manufacturing leadership for this large plant or department, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality output for customers across multiple countries. You will oversee the diverse assembly division of the Jamestown engine plant, which spans over 500,000 square feet and includes approximately 800 nonexempt and 40 exempt employees. This division is responsible for assembling heavy-duty engines, such as the X15, X12, and HELM X15N, and is expanding to include the next-generation HELM X15 diesel and hydrogen platforms. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Drive operational results by setting and monitoring measures, motivating the team, and ensuring high standards in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach individual and collective talent to enhance manufacturing and supply chain capabilities across the organization.
  • Champion projects aligned with Cummins Operation System and Functional Excellence, leveraging common processes, tools, and information systems.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to meet customer and business requirements, and gain support for enterprise initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating plan, ensuring alignment with supply chain initiatives and setting a strategic vision for the organization.
  • Promote Cummins values, including diversity, community involvement, and a positive work environment, while participating in plantwide focus groups and committees.

QualificationsEducation/Experience:
  • College, university, or equivalent degree required.
  • A significant level of relevant work experience, including managerial and budgetary experience, required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate, manage, mentor, and develop high-performing teams in manufacturing and supply chain environments.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement projects aligned with operational systems and functional excellence to achieve strategic business goals.
