Job Description SummaryThis position involves engineering tasks related to the aerospace Tools & Tooling process. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the quality of their own work, operating under direct supervision and following prescribed work instructions and system checks within a clearly defined operational framework. The role requires proficiency in reading, interpreting, and designing blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings. Additionally, the employee may be tasked with designing jigs, fixtures, assembly tools, checking gauges, and other related equipment.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop tools and fixtures per end user and customer requirements.
  • Perform design reviews, manufacturing review and conduct prove out and validation trials.
  • Perform rapid prototyping using additive technology (3D printing).
  • Identify innovative solutions in Tools & Fixtures, to support running a safe and productive manufacturing activity.
  • Guide operating teams effectively & address complex technical challenges, bolstering culture of problem solving.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
  • Estimate costs, resource requirements and performs make buy decisions of tooling builds.
  • Manage tooling request process and the outsourcing of purchased tooling.
  • Teams with tooling manufacturing to understand build processes that facilitate cost effective and producible designs.
  • Inspection Tools-Plain plug gauges, True Position, Perpendicular gauges, etc
  • Assembly Tools-Welding fixtures, Assembly tools, Checking fixtures.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing and/or engineering).
Desired Characteristics
  • High level of drawings/schematics/standards understanding
  • Proficiency in, Unigraphics-Nx, Auto-Cad, Lean & MS Office
  • Knowledge of fabrication and machine tool processes.
  • Knowledge of GD&T in detail part & assembly
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology, 3M, Poka yoke & waste technique
  • Knowledge about Engineering drawing specification, interoperation
  • Post diploma in Tool Design (PGDTD)
  • Knowledge of Aerospace requirements, handling aerospace manufacturing Process, AS9100, quality documents, APQP requirements.
