Job Description :
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Alternate Shift Manufacturing Supervisor to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is eager to grow and develop their career in manufacturing leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers during alternate shifts to ensure that production, quality, and safety standards are met.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)
  • Administers all company rules, policies and procedures within the department and ensures that all employees are properly trained in the safe and efficient performance of assigned duties.
  • Ensures that employees receive proper training for the safe and efficient execution of their assigned duties and conducts safety meetings and additional training as necessary.
  • Supports the Quality Policy and Corporate Quality goals by taking action and/or directing direct reports to execute quality related activities. Seeks to prevent quality defects through understanding the criteria and severity of those defects through the Four Level Defect Grading System.
  • Monitors work in process and supplies inventories, on time status of projects and schedules, accuracy of work, and proper adherence to procedures.
  • Schedules production overtime to supplement production requirements and expediting of critical items in accordance with accepted overtime practices.
  • Reviews production rework and reject part inspection reports to determine and eliminate causes.
  • Responsible for reviewing engineering drawings, production, and operating reports to establish efficient production setups, methods, and techniques for processing work orders.
  • Participates in production machine layout planning, and modifications to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to schedule daily production information and plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Orders supplies and makes purchases within the budget, following established protocols.
  • Monitors budgeted accounts in both expenses and labor reclassification and controls departmental expense spending within preapproved budget.
  • Supports, administrates and maintains the Module program.
  • Facilitates team and departmental meetings.
Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • BS or BA from an accredited college, or an Associate's degree with apprenticeship or equivalent training, and 2-3 years of shop experience required.
  • Familiarity with machinery, production equipment, and computer systems for data manipulation and word processing is beneficial. Demonstrated leadership skills are essential.
  • Directly supervises up to 30 employees in the Thrislington department. The supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions into practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations in addition to documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization, read and develop engineering blueprints into shop floor work sketches. Practical experience of factory rules, bill or material structure, labor and safety regulations and process layouts.
  • Ability to work independently is essential, along with the capacity to read blueprints and schematics. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and spreadsheet software is required, as well as a good understanding of computer operations, including local network server administration. The role requires the ability to deliver presentations to large audiences and interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Demonstrated skills in negotiating both simple and complex contracts are crucial, as is a proven track record in a leadership or management role.
  • Familiarity with machinery, production equipment, and computer systems for data manipulation and word processing is beneficial.
