Job Description :
Summary Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, complete minor to major equipment repairs and assist in composting manure from Production buildings. Individual will be responsible for all manure drying, conveying, and storage on the complex.Key Responsibilities
  • Request needed safety supplies, material, parts, etc. to designated department procurement stakeholder
  • Prepared for DNR or customer audit at all times with proper procedures and documents for all activities
  • Enter data into DBF spreadsheets
  • Ensure the security of chickens and the premises by keeping all facility doors locked to protect birds from predators, external climate and unauthorized personnel
  • Properly dispose of mortality by means of incineration
  • Perform the completion and documentation of all preventative maintenance, special projects and daily maintenance needs in a timely fashion
  • Perform manure removal functions
  • Perform preventive maintenance for compost buildings
  • Safely operate required equipment and tools including skid loader and other equipment on an as needed basis and conduct proper maintenance
  • Understand daily compost activities and procedures
  • Maintain proper loading, compost turning times, and schedules
  • Manage manure stacking to maximize space
  • Oversee cleaning/housekeeping of manure sheds
  • Perform weekly compost inventories
  • Comprehend and execute the manure management program
  • Obtain licensing for job specific duties
  • Perform pre - operation inspection on all vehicles and equipment (complete documentation as required)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalency preferred
  • 1 year experience in production agricultural environment is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be self-directed
  • Must be organized
  • Ability to track and document all activities with correct forms and paperwork
  • Skilled in trouble shooting failed equipment
  • Skilled in operating tractors, skid loaders, and other basic farm equipment
  • Ability to communicate so that others will understand both verbally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of agricultural operations preferred
  • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Record of good attendance with a flexible schedule
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with a team
Physical DemandsStand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.Work EnvironmentFrequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.Temperature varies in relation to the outside temperature. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
