Job Location : Thornton,TX, USA
The Marine Foreman is responsible for maintaining & operating pile driving equipment, barge movement, skiff operations, tying up barges line handling, loading and unloading piling, material, and equipment. Performing all tasks associated with placing steel beams for templates including welding and burning, rigging and signaling crane to pick beams, piling, and all building materials. Position barge or work platform into place for pile driving operation. Hooking up and maneuvering the pile hammer leads onto piling using hand signals or radio. This is a working Foreman position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Follow procedures and protocols put forth in Bechtel provided Execution plans, Standard work procedure plans (SWPP) and corps processes (CP).
* With training be able to develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) crane pick plans.
* Be proficient in the assignment of pile driving techniques for.
* Timber pile
* Concrete pile
* Steel pipe pile
* Z sheet pile
* Flat sheet pile
* Working knowledge of operation and maintenance of construction equipment, large diesel pile hammers, hydraulic vibratory hammers and extractors, fixed, swinging and offshore leader systems.
* Delegate to crew efforts in alignment with the project drawings and schedule.
* Have the knowledge to and possess the experience with adjusting sheet clamps and caisson clamps on vibratory hammer.
* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
* Installation of sheet pile.
* Have the driving knowledge and experience of batter pile.
* Ability to maintain working relationships with others.
* Welding and fabrication of steel templates. Certified welder
* Knowledge and understanding why and how to splice (weld) together sections of steel pile.
* Able to use an industrial gas powered cut off saw (demolition)to cut concrete pile.
* Operate effectively 20' work skiff, docking, push into position other small floats with the direction of barge master. Have knowledge on how to fill boat gas fuel cell.
* Have knowledge of VHF (marine) handheld radios and capable to use them.
* Able to safely walk, stand or using gang way cross over steel deck barges.
* Possess the knowledge of marine operations, general barge layout and crane operations on the water.
* Take direction from superiors.
* Must be able to perform all job duties in a safe manner and follow all safety rules associated with job function.
* Barge handling, line handling.
* Willing to fully read and implement information in, tide charts, project construction drawings, shop drawings and execution plans.
Physical Requirements:
* Heavy, physical work: lifting or handling up to 50 pounds frequently on a daily basis.
* Sufficient body strength to move or force steel or concrete pile into templates, manipulate steel plates for fabrication and guide hydraulic hammers by dragging associated hydraulic hoses.
* Able to work on feet and/or standing 8-10 hours each day, maintain balance while walking on 24 wide steel beams.
* Able to work in all-weather environments including heat, cold, dusty and dirty work.
* Able to walk, climb, balance and squat while carrying tools or material.
In addition to the above, essential job functions - must be able:
* Bend, stoop, crouch, climb, carry, stand, walk, and turn/pivot.
* Work full-time, 8-10 hours per day, 5 or 6 days per week.
* Extended hours may be required as construction needs dictate.
* Report to work on a regular and timely basis.
* Grasp and maintain control of objects.
* Lift tools and building material to heights above shoulder and lower materials to foot level.
* Work over and on the water.
* This position is a working foreman position and is expected to be involved in the crew as efforts require.
Construction experience
* 5 years of construction experience
* Experience working around water
