Additionally, we received Culture Excellence Awards for Compensation & Benefits, Innovation, Leadership, Purpose & Values and Work-Life Flexibility.Position Summary / Objective:We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Maintenance Mechanic with expertise in maintaining and repairing marine mechanical equipment and systems. The Marine Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for forecasting, scheduling, accomplishing, documenting, and auditing maintenance activities associated with preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of marine equipment and systems, including HVAC, electrical generators (tier 1-4 marine diesels), DEF systems, emission controls, cooling systems, fluid/filter changes, valve lash adjustment, and more.Essential functions:
  • Forecast, schedule, accomplish, document, and audit maintenance activities associated with preventive and corrective maintenance on marine mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on HVAC systems, electrical generators (tier 1-4 marine diesels), DEF systems, emission controls, cooling systems, fluid/filter changes, valve lash adjustment, start-up/shutdown procedures, gasket replacement, engine health trend analysis, and engine battery charging systems.
  • Maintain and repair open loop and closed loop hydraulic systems, potable water systems, marine raw water ballast and firefighting systems, compressed air systems, and other marine systems and equipment.
  • Operate and mechanically maintain electric bridge cranes and hydraulic pedestal cranes, including travel/rotate/swing/trolley/hoist brakes, hoist drums, structural inspection, and load bearing/controlling parts inspection.
  • Select and properly use rigging equipment for complex and non-complex lifts with single or multiple cranes.
  • Prepare and maintain crane equipment history/maintenance jackets per NAVFAC P-307.
  • Perform duties of a crane rigger, crane operator, or rigger in charge.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop environment and perform custodial duties as needed.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair various marine systems and equipment, including barge primary and auxiliary mechanical systems equipment such as engines, generators, cranes, winches, compressors, sanitation systems, fuel oil storage and transfer systems, potable water systems, raw water ballasting systems, firefighting systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Collateral duties may include forklift truck and small boat operation.
  • Plan and execute creative solutions for deploying and recovering customer-furnished equipment.
  • Update, propagate, and schedule maintenance items for the facility and its assets to avoid conflicts with customer support.
  • Adjust the trim and ballast of the barge to compensate for equipment loadout.
  • Submit purchase requests for parts and consumables.
  • Acquire and maintain Navy certifications for various roles including rigger, rigger in charge, crane operator, crane mechanic, crane electrician, load test inspector, and more.
  • Conduct inventory and inspections of all certified rigging gear.
  • Track, update, and maintain equipment history files for all cranes.
  • Originate, submit, and complete crane repair orders along with supporting documentation.
  • Conduct bore scope inspections of gearboxes and brake housings, properly recording all results and findings.
  • Participate in tandem winch operations, maintaining clear and concise communications with other operators during two-crane lifts and anchoring evolutions.
  • Collect oil samples and interpret the analysis breakdown to determine lubricant condition and establish data trends.
  • Draw and submit potable water samples for testing and analyze results to determine the safety of drinking water.
  • Conduct inspections and tests of installed fire suppression systems.
  • Conduct and oversee fuel transfers.
  • Qualify as small boat crewman/coxswain.
  • Obtain and maintain forklift license.
  • Perform touch-up paint to prevent corrosion of equipment and assets.
Required education and experience:
  • Minimum 15 years of commercial experience or 8 years of military experience with transferable MOS/NEC/A school/C school/Aux package training/NNPS experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial experience or 5 years of military experience under NAVFAC P-307.
  • 2+ years of related experience in packing machines/production machines.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft programs.
Preferred education and experience:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
