Department: Member Services Time Type: Part time Job Description: Summary: The Marketing Assistant will be responsible for creating a variety of print and digital designs which includes but is not limited to: Logos, brochures, flyers, postcards, T shirt designs and more to that will promote the programs, facilities, and services of the Recreation Sports and Fitness department. The ideal candidate is an innovative, energetic, self-directed, inclusive team member who understands design theory and the process of graphic design. This Rec Fit team member will bring creativity, passion, and an openness to collaboration. The Marketing Assistant will be expected to work alongside Rec Fit Staff and attend to all formal design requests, as well as any small design projects around the office. Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality graphics for print, online, and digital displays that utilize both photography and illustration elements.
- Ensure all design meet brand standards of RecFit and American University.
- Provide creative direction for programs and services.
- Work with clients to establish timelines and effectively communication work progress.
- Regularly photograph RecFit programs and services and catalog photos.
- Attend fairs and other events on occasion to help promote the department.
- Attend regular staff meetings with the marketing team and additional Recfit staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: - Part-Time.
- 15-20 hours per week.
Salary Range: Required Education and Experience: - Ability to think creatively in order to produce new ideas and concepts to enhance a project's objectives.
- Familiar with Mac operating system(s).
- Must be a student currently enrolled at American University.
- Ability to work in a team-based, collaborative setting.
- Must be able to demonstrate previous design experience through an online portfolio.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines.
Preferred Education and Experience: - Highly organized and detail-oriented self-starter who can work independently at times.
- Proficient in Adobe CC including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and others.
- Possess an understanding of core design elements such as typography, contrast, color, etc.
- Seeking a degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
- Knowledge of DSLR cameras, lighting, and other photography and video equipment.
