ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Marketing Specialist at Plymouth Housing will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our online content strategy. A member of Plymouth's fundraising team, this position focuses on cultivating Plymouth's online presence and garnering support for our work via social media, blog, and email. The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer who can meet a high standard for copy. They will have a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will work collaboratively with various teams to ensure our digital communications reflect these values.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE DOING IN THIS ROLE AT PLYMOUTH HOUSING
Social Media Management:
* Collaborate with the Communications team to establish a vision and strategy for Plymouth Housing's online content.
* Generate content ideas and maintain the content calendar.
* Capture and prepare content for social by conducting interviews, taking photos/video, etc.
* Write text for social media captions, graphics, and reels.
* Work with the graphic designer to create graphics.
* Conduct approval routing and publish social media content.
* Monitor inboxes and notifications to engage with the audience.
* Record and analyze social media metrics monthly.
Blog Content:
* Participate in content planning for Plymouth's blog.
* Write content, prepare media, and publish posts.
* Periodically report out on blog traffic.
Email Marketing:
* Collaborate with the Senior Communications Manager and Resource Development colleagues to create email marketing plans.
* Develop workback and review timelines for eblasts.
* Draft text for eblasts and design them using Mailchimp.
* Conduct approval routing and send eblasts.
* Record eblast metrics.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging:
* Build relationships with Permanent Supportive Housing staff and across the organization.
* Interact with Plymouth Housing residents with sensitivity and tact.
* Evaluate and improve digital communication practices using an antiracist lens.
* Develop digital content with best practices for accessibility.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Assist with SEO and online reputation management efforts such as updating Google Business listings and responding to reviews.
* Act as the primary photographer at internal Plymouth functions.
* Assist in planning and producing larger-scale video projects.
* Obtain permission forms from participants in photo and video projects.
* Provide support for fundraising events.

* Experience creating content for social media and familiarity with best practices.
* Experience using email marketing platforms like Mailchimp.
* Basic filming and video editing skills preferred.
* Experience with SEO keywork research and writing preferred.
* Strong multitasking skills and ability to perform under tight deadlines.
* Attention to detail and ability to manage high levels of responsibility.
* Trauma-informed mindset.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Marketing, Social Media, Journalism, or other Digital Media/Communications.
* Proven commitment to racial equity in either personal or professional life.
* Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Ability to occasionally work nights and weekends for fundraising events.
EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSING
* B.A. in Communications and/or Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or equivalent work experience.
