Master Locksmith - Insight Global : Job Details

Day to Day:

A locksmith's daily duties are integral to the campus facilities team, focusing on the maintenance and security of door systems. This includes servicing Schlage locks (replacing pins, coding), handling the carpentry aspects of working on doors, and managing the moving parts of a door. The locksmith is also responsible for fixing broken keys, extracting keys, ensuring all doors on campus are lubricated and meet ADA compliance, and responding to work orders.

Must Haves:

• Experience with commercial industrial lock smithing
• Locksmith certification or 2+ years relevant work experience
• Experience with Excel
• Experience record keeping/work order tracking
• Experience with identifying, installing, maintaining, adjusting, repairing, fabricating, rebuilding, and replacing lock cylinders and combinations, including ADA-approved locks and other institutional hardware.
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Experience in installing, adjusting, servicing, and repairing exit door hardware, such as hinges, closers, and access controls

Extra Responsibilities/Must Haves:

• Ability to open locks when keys or combinations are inoperable and to extract foreign objects from keyholes.
• Knowledge of key codebooks for selecting key blanks and fabricating or duplicating keys.
• Capability to devise and install master key systems and maintain key records and security.
