Material Handler* - Novelis Richmond Manufacturing Facility : Job Details

Position Overview:

Our Novelis Richmond, VA facility is seeking to add a talented Material Handler to its team. Offering a competitive starting wage of $20.73 per hour. The purpose of this role is to support the operations department with receiving material and loading delivery trucks with large coils aluminum.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains a safe working environment by complying with Novelis HSE standards and policies, all state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures.

• Operation of machine equipment and/ or running manual tasks in order to maintain operational efficiency and quality of the product or goods handled
• Ensure timely and accurate production
• Participation in teams to enhance the integrity of our drive for excellence
• Moderate lifting and bending
• Utilize forklifts, pallet jacks, etc. to unload, move, stack and load various materials.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of experience in production / manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Ability to operate powered industrial trucks (i.e. forklift).
• The willingness to work flexible schedules as needed. Work schedules include nights, weekend or holiday shifts.
• Dependable, team-player who can demonstrate initiative.
• Basic computer, math and reading skills.
• Ability to move around in an industrial environment, including some climbing up and on plant equipment, and such activities as walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, driving carts, occasional reaching with hands and arms, and climbing stairs to reach plant offices and equipment.
• Must be able to lift and /or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Established in 1959 the Richmond facility utilizes unique pellet casting technology and a compacting mill to produce aluminum rolled sheet for the building and construction industry. The site utilizes recycled material to produce AA3025 and AA3105 mill finish sheet used in the manufacturing of gutters downspouts soffit fascia siding roofing panels window trim and pipe jacketing.
