Description

This position is responsible for doing a variety of tasks which include the safe and efficient operation of the manual pallet jack as well as other material handling equipment. Raw materials (boxes, bags) used in production are to be supplied to and are moved from the work station on a timely basis. Empty pallets must be placed on the line, where cases are palletized, shrink wrapped (with proper documentation), and removed to the warehouse area upon job completion. The material handler is responsible for maintaining the proper pallet count and configuration for each job. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Safety - Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment. Equipment will be assigned by the supervisor.
- Provide each pallet with a properly positioned slip sheet, during slip sheeting operation.
- Check production schedule, item schedule, and bill of materials as necessary to ensure proper line set-up.
- Communicate with the lead person as to specific job requirements.
- Provide assistance in setting up re-work areas as needed.
- Make sure line conveyors are set up as to the proper length to accommodate finished product and assist with moving tape machines, work tables, etc.
- Document the shift number on each pallet of finished product before removing from the line.
- Stack and stamp boxes to be used in production.
