Position : Material Handler

Location : Covington, GA

Duration : 12 Months Contract

Start Time : 12:00 PM

End Time : 8:30 PM

Total Hours/week : 40.00

Description:

  • Uses a variety of equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, cranes, handcarts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies and finished products or goods within a plant, office or warehouse.
  • May maintain records. Develops skills in basic tasks, techniques and procedures within one skill area / process / method.
  • Applies basic knowledge and skills to complete routine tasks consisting of prescribed steps.
  • Works within clearly defined SOPs and / or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines.
  • Works under general to limited supervision. High school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Zero (0) to one (1) year warehouse experience or related experience and/or training.
  • Mainly manual labor - unloading trucks and stacking pallets - under 25 lbs (some weigh less than 5 lbs)
  • Must be able to verify labels on boxes and matching to pallets. Attention to detail is essential! Scanning experience is needed as well
  • Stand up forklift experience needed
  • Obtains and/or maintains appropriate licenses / training / certifications, as needed.
  • Has basic skills training in an analytical / scientific method or operational process area (e.g., material handling and management, logistics, manufacturing production).
  • Effective communication skills at a level co-workers and Team Lead/Supervisor can understand.
  • Ability to read, write, interpret and comprehend documents written in English and perform basic math calculations. Ability to perform/operate in a metrics-driven environment. General computer skills.

  • The job can require lifting and/or moving over 50 lbs.
  • The position will have exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, extreme weather conditions and vibration.
  • Occasionally the position will have exposure to work in high, precarious places and fumes/airborne particles.
  • It is hot in the summer months (no AC) and cold in the winter months (limited heating). The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
